Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to let your memories LiveOn
How do I know my pictures or videos are safe with LiveOn? I don’t want to lose them. LiveOn Rewind knows how important your memories are to you. Often, only one copy exists, and it can be hard to send it away, not knowing if and when it will return. Rest assured, our service department treats your photos and videos with the highest level of care. All media is processed in the United States, and you can track exactly where it is throughout the conversion process. We work on each order individually to prevent item misplacement. We also weigh each box when it arrives, and again before we send it back, to make sure all your belongings are returned.
Wouldn’t it be easier for me to convert my own media? Sure, you could convert your own media. You could also change your own oil or sew your own clothes, but most people don’t have the time or tools that the experts use. At LiveOn Rewind, we are the experts in digitizing media. We have the most advanced equipment on the market and top-notch Specialists working on your photos, who care about your belongings as much as you do. Instead of buying thousands of dollars worth of scanning equipment and spending hundreds of hours manually placing each photo on a flatbed, wouldn’t you rather spend that extra time and money creating new memories? Just send us your favorite pictures or videos using our prepaid mailing box and we’ll take care of the rest.
What types of media can I send in to be converted? We specialize in photos, documents, newspaper clippings, slides, VHS, VHS-C, Hi-8, and Mini DV. However, we’d be glad to talk to you about any media you might have. Contact us and we will help you preserve your memories to the best of our ability.
Is there a limit to how many photos and videos I can send? Nope. We’ve scanned orders with hundreds of photos, dozens of tapes and thousands of slides. However, we recommend estimating your order size before shipment to make sure it fits your budget and so we can give you an accurate time estimate for how long it will take to convert your order.
How do I send it? We prefer you send it in a sturdy box with packing materials such as bubble wrap or newspaper to avoid damage to your keepsakes. Feel free to include special instructions in your box as well. To learn more, download our shipping instructions and address label here.
What if I can’t find a box? No problem! Take a look at our Preservation Kits: custom prepaid boxes perfect for shipping your most prized possessions. You place your order, we send our box to you, you place your memories inside and mail it back. It’s that easy.
What type of media will fit in a Preservation Kit? Preservation Kits are designed to fit the most common types of media that would need to be converted, including photos up to 5”x7” and VHS recording tapes. They will hold approximately 3 VHS tapes or 250 photos.
What are the dimensions of the Preservation Kit? 8.5” x 5.5” x 3.5”
What is included in the Kit? The Kit will contain a box custom-designed to fit your media, a prepaid mailing envelope, a waterproof plastic bag, and secure packaging.
When will my Preservation Kit arrive? Your preservation kit will arrive in 2-4 business days via UPS Ground.
How do I ship it back to your processing center? Simple: just put the prepaid label on the Preservation Kit and take it to the nearest UPS store or UPS box.
Where is the nearest UPS store? Go to ups.com/dropoff to find the store closest to you.
What types of image correction do you perform during the conversion process? We like to keep your images looking as vibrant as the day they were recorded. The Digital ICE technology built into our scanners improves the color quality of scanned images automatically. We also crop and rotate each image, making them ready to be shown off to family and friends as soon as they’re done.
Can you provide details on the resolution of scanned images? All of our photos are typically scanned at 350 dpi. We can also scan our images at a higher resolution if requested, up to 4000 dpi.
What advice do you have to make sure my media is safe during the shipping process? We recommend adding a couple of pieces of box tape to the opening of your box to prevent anyone other than our Specialists from opening your box during transit. Also it’s a good idea to place your media in a resealable plastic bag to keep your memories safe from unexpected damage. Add packaging material (newspaper, bubble wrap, etc.) in any excess space.
How long will I have to wait to see my preserved media? We will send you an email once your media arrives at our facility. Then, depending on the amount of media that is sent in, we will process your order within 1-3 weeks of receipt. But it won’t take long to see that work has begun; we will send you an email with the first slide or photo that we process.
When will my original media be sent back to me? Somewhere between 3-5 weeks, depending on the amount of media sent in. We will contact you with tracking information immediately after we ship your newly preserved items back to you. If you need it quicker for a special event, just contact us and we will see what we can do. (You just have to promise to tell your friends how much you love our service!)
What if I have more questions? You can email us through our contact page or call us toll-free at 1-877-574-7384. Feel free to ask us any questions you have about the conversion process. We look forward to hearing from you!
